Mark Harrod Ltd has presented a local football club with £200 worth of equipment, following a three-week online competition.
Of the 110 UK clubs that entered, the final winners were Ipswich Phoenix Youth F.C., a club based just 30 miles from our head office in Beccles.
Ipswich Phoenix Youth F.C. (IPFC) was formed in June 2013 by two youth managers, Richard Fenn and Kevin Griggs, with the intention of providing local children with a no-pressure environment in which to play and enjoy football. Having formed the 5-team club with no reserve funds, Richard and Kevin have worked hard to gain sponsorship, obtain grants and do whatever they could to get IPFC off the ground.
Our Football Clubs competition presented the newly formed IPFC with a great opportunity to win some much-needed equipment. Richard and Kevin rallied support, asking everyone involved with the club to cast their vote on Facebook and spread the word about the competition.
IPFC finished the competition with a total of 136 votes, with Ipswich Valley Rangers F.C. in 2nd place with 119, and Ipswich Exiles F.C. coming in 3rd with 75 votes. All three clubs received prizes, with the IPFC taking home £200 worth of equipment including footballs, bags and training accessories.
Though we also supply to national clubs such as Chelsea FC, we are an avid advocate of local football and supporting the local community. We have long relationships with a number of schools and clubs in Suffolk and Norfolk.
This was the second, increasing succesful Football Clubs competition that we have run, and IPFC are the second local team to win the top prize. With more competitions to come in 2014, our support of local football isn’t stopping any time soon!
